Reccomended Reading
Here you can find a list of some of my favorite resources for learning about fishkeeping. Some of these may be somewhat difficult to find, but I've had great success buying them from secondhand book sellers.

One of the best generalist books on fishkeeping; both for the hobbyist and the professional or academic, freshwater and marine. This book is written by a fantastic group of expert authors and covers the topics of aquarium maintenance, planted aquariums, anatomy, genetics, breeding, physiology, nutrition, diseases, parasites, and quarantine procedures. I have found this book to be an invaluable companion to my own fishkeeping hobby and reccomend it to anyone who wishes to improve their own fishkeeping.
An excellent, though somewhat difficult to find, book that covers fish health with great care and detail. The book is broken into 3 parts: fish health and husbandry, signs of tropical fish diseases and health problems, and an encyclopedic index for the treatment of diseases and health problems. This book is a worthwhile read that I reference whenever one of my fish displays any signs of potential illness.
A very nice, accessible book on L-number plecos, unlike many such indexes or monographs, this book is targetted towards the beginner. The technical content of this book is intentionally kept simple and is easily understood by aquarists of any level. This is easily my favorite reference book for identifying L-number plecos.
Somewhat outdated due to the several taxonomic changes that have taken place to the genera Corydoras, Brochis, and Aspidoras in the years since this book's publication in 1992, this book remains a useful reference for identifying the common catfish that now fall into the genera Aspidoras, Brochis, Corydoras, Gastrodermus, Osteogaster, and Scleromystax.
A nice book about generalist fishkeeping, particularly useful to beginner hobbyists. Somewhat outdated in terms of reccomended filtration and lighting (the book was published in 1986), most of the book's information on setting up and caring for aquaria remains reliable.
